Mediocre app
I have been a paying (subscription) customer of 1Password ever since the subscription model was launched. Compared to other subscription based software offerings the software (version 8) is at best bediocer compared to version 7. I have had daily crashes on my iPad pro for the past weeks. This is simply not acceptable for a service that is sold at a premium price.
Weak and heavy on past rep.
Hangs on occasion about once daily and is all in all, much of a step backwards, this far. i.e. how can a dark icon you already had still be missing for months, coming up on a year? It’s what? A two day job for an intern, to add back yet months and months of nothing. More urgent is, important fields i.e. user and passwords get pushed off screen while editing if the record has custom fields, making it impossible to update them on an iPhone. That's… rough enough to never have been caught. 1P8 might grow into something good in coming years but right now there’s just an all over extremely creepy, chafing feeling of poorly fitted veneer to using it that doesn't compare. You had a very good track record up until 8 but part of me can't help questioning what else has been compromised on, if you still can't find the time to achieve feature parity. I’ll be happy to change my view once that lifts and I’ll give you this year but you need to kick it back into gear, yesterday. I miss my password assistant. EDIT: Destroy item doesn't destroy anything either. Item is still accessible through recents. This is embarrassing.
UI no longer native
Apparently unifying the UI was a goal with the redign in 1Password 8. The result is an app that no longer feels at home on on my OS (iPadOS). I prefer a native UI.
Great product, awful stability
The basic functions of this app are great, but the number of updates supposedly aimed to solve problem but instead causes new crashes is just too high. The Safari extension and its inability to work consistently is particularly annoying. When reporting issues to 1Password support, response is usually swift and courteous, but no solution is provided. I am staying with the product, partly because it's great when it works, partly due to lack of other options. Strongly recommend that 1Password puts a lot more effort into quality assurance before pushing yet another crash-prone release unto unsuspecting users. Passive aggressive comment? Sure. Edit: took one more star off due to excessive crashing - this time watchtower is unusable
iPad version useless, not even beta.
Update: their iPad version crashes when you open Watchtower. After that it crashes every time you try to log in. I deleted the app, reinstalled but no luck. Still impossible to log in. The problem us known, and mentioned among users on Reddit. So as I see it on iPad 1Password is totally useless. It is rather insulting to customers to charge for a defunct application. Oh ”but you can use it on iOS and Mac”. Yes.”, so why complain? Well, because almost all other competition have working iPad versions. If they don’t have they don’t pot a more or less alpha version on Appstore. [earlier review] No integration to Apple Watch. They had in v7, but not in v8. They claim they are working on it, but when asked a simple question ”when” there is no straight answer. No answer in mail, and on Reddit one answer that only says ”it’s not dropped” but then they write that they don’t know how to implement it. So instead of a straight answer they play the semantics-card. How mature. Also: they don’t put the Mac version on Appstore. According to themselves it is their own decision. I for one wouldn’t download such an important app as a password manager outside of the Appstore. But at least they don’t have to pay commissions to Apple. As for the app itself: well, graphically it looks more like a online casino than a password manager. Bells and whistles for those who think it is more important to have colorful meters than actual functions (like Apple Watch). Nope sorry: 1Password is very expensive and ought to have such things as support for Apple Watch. But this just shows that Agilebits are leaving their Apple roots in order to make money in the Windows market. Good luck. I guess those of us who still want Apple products on our iPhones, iPads and Macs will have to look elsewhere. I give it two stars since I think it is better than one star. But for someone that uses Apple Watch it is useless. So I won’t give it a three. Finally: their staff needs to study customer relations.
