Vad är HebrewBible? The Hebrew Bible iPhone app is designed for reading and studying the Hebrew Bible in Hebrew, Aramaic, or in a parallel translation format combining Hebrew and another language. It is also useful for improving one's knowledge of Biblical Hebrew and Biblical Aramaic. The app is comprised of five main components: Bible, Words, Topics, Maps, and BDB.
1. Bible: Accessible in several different versions, including Hebrew with cantillation, vowels, or no vowels, Hebrew/English with cantillation, vowels, or no vowels, Hebrew/French, English, Hebrew Torah with commentary, Aramaic Torah with vowels or no vowels. Audio readings of the Hebrew version are available in Sephardi-style Hebrew. Pop-up English definitions are available when touching any Hebrew word, and a list of all verses in the Hebrew Bible that contain that word can be displayed.
2. Words: Useful for learning more about specific Hebrew words and discovering related words. One can lookup words by "Root" or use the "Translate" function to translate words or sentences. There is also a word search facility.
3. Topics: Links to key topics in the Wikipedia online encyclopedia, accessible by Bible book, by "Meta" topics, and a consolidated list of all topics.
4. Maps: Maps of almost every location mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, accessible by Bible book or a consolidated list of all maps. One can display multiple different locations on a map and see a listing of all verses in the Hebrew Bible that mention that location.
5. BDB: The Brown–Driver–Briggs Hebrew Lexicon is accessible from within the application, with individual pages displayed via the word lookup functionality. An Internet connection is required for some content, but most core functionality is maintained locally.
