Messy bling bling
The new app from february 11 2021 is messy, unstructered and goggleish. You can get ANYTHING, Oh yeah. But I want what is relevant not anything. That’s what I expect from the world best magazine. The app doesn’t help or guide the reader in a clear direction through the weeks edition. You expect to find the newest news in a sequence and a too guideing you through the news thats relevant. Now there appear older or less relevant news, that I have already read last week or articles in a different order than on the main screen. And the addition of ”Today” where one finds articles that appear in the weekly edition as well is completely confusing. Whoever did this crap is obviously not a reader of the magazine. Probably some illitterate teenager hired for computergame skills rather than knowledge, ability, understanding of news facts and content. Or is it a beginners algorithm ? I have been a subsciber for +35 years so there is plenty of experience from the way the magazine has brilliantly behaved over the years. The Economist has been a cornerstone of my career, professional development and always a prime newssource. With this app I find myself reading less of the content. The Economist has made itself LESS RELEVANT. Franky, I can’t recommend the app. Bling bling
Poor UX app
Not providing (physical) magazine feeling at all. App provides webpage functionality at the most, so why bother having this app? If I had known the poor User experience, then I had not purchased the digital annual subscription. Many newspaper app’s provide better UX.

Easy signing up. Impossible to cancel.
Wanted to cancel subscription to avoid auto renewal and instead remake the decision at end of year. Only option was calling or starting chat. Chatted with a “Justin”. Within 15 min I had gone from liking Economist to absolutely hating it. STAY AWAY. Impossible to cancel. Had to close the chat eventually to stop wasting time, which is clearly the intention.
No synchronisation between devices
The app does not sync bookmarks across my iOS devices, please fix this. I’ve tried reinstalling the apps but nothing helps.
